Namaste’

I am speechless as I type this. Stunned is more like it. I have been preparing myself over the
last couple of years but how do you really prepare for the inevitable end to someone’s life.
This morning (following the last couple of days of Junior Seau taking up the headlines) one of
my favorite musicians, artists and heroes passed away – Adam Yauch aka MCA of the
Beastie Boys.

I am truly saddened by this. Bummed. Crushed. A piece of my youth died. A MAJOR influence
in my life is gone. Knowing that the BBoys will never perform again or make music together
is devastating.
I have been promising Tasia that the next time they toured, that we would go to LA or wherever
to see them, especially knowing that she had never seen them. I have been reminiscing with
friends all morning about good time with the Beasties, going all the way back to High School.
I’ve been lucky enough to see them a handful of times including 2 stand out shows – the Tibetian
Freedom Festival
in San Francisco in 1996, and 10 years later in LA at the Greek Theater.
The Greek theater show actually ranks on my top 5 shows of all time!!! That show was phenominal!!!
So as another part of my life starts – the one without the Beastie Boys – I reflect on what I am calling
the “First Half” of my life, the one with them. Great times, Beautiful music, and good memories.
Thanks BBoys for giving me all of that and more.
Rest in Peace. MCA. Namaste'.

One of my favorite performances form just a couple of years ago on Jimmy Fallon...
