This weekend was the Comic Con International. I have been attending
since 1986 and registered as a Pro since 1994. I always plan my vacation
around it. It has really become more of a phenomenon as opposed to
“just comics” – it now encompasses comics, movies, video games,
tv & pop culture in general.
Besides meeting up with so many friends over the 4 days,
I use this as a marketing opportunity for picking up clients.
I love the comradery brought together by the love of all that is holy & good.
My agenda includes picking up some comics I am missing, some Simpsons toys,
some new DVD’s, sitting in on some panels for Battlestar Galactica,
the Batman & JLU animated series, cast of LOST, uber-director
Brian Singer talking about Superman Returns & Kevin Smith just to name a few.
Here are the photos from the weekend:

Just as an FYI –
The second season of Battlestar Galactica starts tonight on Sci-Fi.
Had another great sunny San Diego weekend, last weekend.
I had 3 parties to go to, including a WHITE TRASH party that I went to with T&T.
First up was my friend Pilon’s Birthday Beach Bash on the Bay.
Fun, but everyone was couples & had the kids.
Then it was onto the good par-tay. Everyone was soooooo WT it
wasn’t even funny. I thought the Duke Boys, Uncle Jessie and Daisy
were going to be there. Oh, by the way, I won the Dukes of Hazzard
trivia contest. A lot of fun people there and even some cute girls.
After that it was onto a bowling party with a group of people I met online.
Fun group of Thirty-somethings. Just another activity for me to get out
and meet new & exciting people.
The conversations at these gatherings is so random.
It can range from politics, career, religion, nascar, booze…
but a good time is always held.

TEX
Sorry for not writing in a while. Busy is good though, right?
I have been freelancing back at EFI Sports Medicine the last 2 weeks.
I had been there before, for 6 weeks between NEXT Proteins & FishTank BA.
Very cool company & cool people. I also interviewed at DISGUISE,
the largest costume company in the US. I found out this week,
they hired someone else. I also had a phone interview this week
with 212 Interactive. After talking to them I don’t think it will
be a good fit. I am really going to give EFI a shot.
In my other world (the one that has been f@#ked up for months),
I have really hit a low point. I need to get my life in order
before it gets worse (which is a point of no return).
I am not being creative, I cannot concentrate,
and it has consumed my life. It scares the hell out of me.
I needed to do something desperate…
Yesterday, I took to the road.
I packed a bag for a couple of days, got in my car and drove North.
First stop, Encinitas to see “chuckles”. Afterwards I went to
Moonlight Beach for a while, with enough time to write in my journal
(which I started a few weeks ago).

Next stop, Newport Beach & Fashion Island. I love the area up there.
Very clean and it just feels wealthy. Great time. The mall is fun.
The drive up was great. Just getting out on the open road is therapeutic.
I love road trips if I have good company.
But yesterday was about ME clearing my head.
I didn’t know what I wanted to do next – head into LA, maybe further?
Instead, I love my home town and thought just being around
my friends & family during the holiday weekend.
I dropped the car back on the road. I ended up back at Mission Bay.
I love our city. The bay was awesome yesterday,
except it reminded me of “smiley”. Took my time there,
watched the people running, boating, and enjoying there evening at the bay.

I know the recovery process will take time.
I want to get back to normal. I want to be me again.
