HI-RES VERSION
One of my new obsessions actually combines EVERYTHING I love - in music, art, design,
movies & typography.
POP Art, specifically poster art has really been a great outlet for designers, artists
and musicians. The layout and design, type and even the art all combines to generate a feeling
inside you. They have become quite collectable, being signed and numbered in some cases.
The content can be anything from Bands on tour; Movies - even really old ones or ones with
classic posters already made, but offering up an alternative homage to the picture; and even
sometimes just really cool art.
There are so many artists and designers doing pieces on a daily basis, it's hard to name them all.
Instead I will highlight one I'm CRAZY about, as well as a couple of sites that collect and
show tons of new pieces daily!!!
Ken Taylor - This guy is a genius and seems to crank out the hits. From stuff for Pearl Jam,
Foo Fighters, Bon Iver, and Soundgarden, and movies like Gremlins, Thor, and Star Wars,
his stuff is jaw-dropingly beautiful.

Inside the Rock Poster Frame - Posters, Toys, Art… Oh my!!! A great way to see everything
collected into one website.

OMG Posters - Similar to ITRPF website, OMG shows a little bit of everything in the world or
art and collectibles.

Not that we go out to eat a lot, and when we do, we seem to go to a handful of favorites
that we really like. But like most things, you don't want things to get stagnant and this
includes food. So we try to break from the norm and try new places.
A good way to force yourself to try new places is Groupons. We get them and have
tried out a bunch of places this way. Sure some are better than others, but trying to
find some positives is better than just hating the whole experience.
Another way to find great (and new) places is YELP. This is one of my personal favorite
websites to use. I have a YELP account, write reviews and read lots of other reviews on
places before trying them out.
YELP
Have you experienced getting reservations where the restaurant pushes you onto another
site to make reservations? Most likely that site is Open Table. I actually like Open Table
and use it whenever I can. They are tied into a lot of eateries and really know when there are
open tables and times. Plus you earn points that translate into $$$ that you can spend at
any restaurant that uses Open Table.
Open Table
A couple of GREAT places I highly recommend are:
SNOOZE - Seriously the BEST breakfast place in SD. Hip style meets great breakfast
done right! Get there early or expect a long wait ( but worth every minute!!!).

Cucina Urbana - Owned by the same people that own Kensington Grill, This Itialian fusion
restaurant that delivers on taste, fun and uniqueness. Be sure to use Open Table and set-up
a reservation because this place is ALWAYS packed. *HINT - The bar serves food and is
first-come - first serve.

Places I still wanna try: Searsucker, Underbelly, Burlap

This website made me laugh. Your Dad was the original "Hipster"...

My passion in a lot of ways is still photography. Even if I don't shoot everyday, I still feel like I'm "Framing"
Art and Design at work and while doing freelance. I've promised myself that I will shoot more photos this year
and I plan on doing this by increasing from my total of 535 (processed) photos. That was only 44 pixs a month
and I know i can beat that!! I never want to feel like I'm not living up to my potential…
Creatively. Mentally. Spiritually. Everyday.
Last Year (2011) in Pictures
NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH...

Not exactly the way I wanted to start off the new year but YES, my clumsy self broke
my small toe on my Right foot yesterday and I am in a lot of pain. There isn't much
you can do for a broken toe, except tape it, rest it and try not to re-injure it!!
Now starts the healing, gimping around and trying to to bang anything into it.
And DAMN my FOOT is UGLY!!!!
When I was thinking about ME as a person, going through my normal End of the Year retrospective, I always
like to purge the old, and plan on rejuvenating, changing and exploring my life & creativity. One of the presents
I got for XMas was a "One Sketch a Day" book that forces you to be creative even when you may not be feeling it.
I have been shooting a ton more photos already and spent the last couple of weeks getting the garage into a
Creative Workshop space, that will allow me to do a couple cool projects I have been planning on doing.
I am thankful for the creative people around me that inspire, praise, give hope, add magic, and with my drive
(as well as some pushing, shoving and relentless pressure) it will be a very creative year!

New Years Eve always has this stigma attached to it about "Having the GREATEST NIGHT ever!" or "Making it
the MOST MEMORABLE". After the 2010 - 2011 NYE I had with a small group of friends, I decided THAT was
the greatest way to ring in the New Year!! This year I hosted a party with Tasia, combining our 2 groups of friends
into one kick-ass party group! It was a lot of fun with a lot of good food, alcohol, singing & dancing and a great time
held by all. I couldn't think of a better way to ring in 2012.
