Another awesome weekend in San Diego. Even though I didn’t have a BIG weekend,
it was still a blast and a great release (from the pressure in my head).
Friday night was supposed to kick-off a fun weekend with a “getting to know you” drink / date
with F-bomb, the girl I met at the Wolfmother show. Unfortunately
I experienced something new – the stand-up. Not a full on blow off but the plans
fell through and I didn’t hear from her until early Saturday morning. She said
one of her friends had an emergency and she went to help. She asked to reschedule…
Then we were supposed to go out for Chazz’s Birthday but he got crushed in
the face at his football game and didn’t want to go out looking like Mushmouth
from the Cosby Kids. I figure it’s his bday, he doesn’t have to go out if he
doesn’t want to. I figure we’ll make up for it the next weekend (being the
weekend of the 4th of July).
Even still, I didn’t want to sit home on a Saturday night. I had been
contacted through MySpace by a girl I met, to come down to where she works
an grab a drink (she’s a bartender). This actually goes back a few months ago
to talking to a couple of cute SD girls. Here I met Jo-Jo. Chatted her up a
couple of time but it never really went anywhere so I left it alone.
Well, she initiated the contact this time. She is really nice & cute.
We have exchanged digits so we’ll see what happens there.
Then Sunday I went to the Padres game with Shazz. Had an awesome time
in the sun, watching the wheels come off in what was a good game until the
8th inning. The best part of the day is the seat on the other side of me…
It became occupied with a very cute girl. The funny thing is I am sitting
there with Shazz so it could look like we are together. We both waited to
see if a guy was showing up to sit with the lovely girl, but it did not happen.
As we were sitting there, I smiled, she smiled… the cards were being laid.
I asked Shazz if she had to go to the bathroom (hint, hint) and she said
“NO” with a big shit-eating grin on her face. She said she wanted to make
me sweat. Lucky for me there was an opening – a foul ball came right at us,
without me looking, I reached may hand out and almost caught it. It bounced
at Shazz’s feet but she was too slow to grab it, while some guy lept over
his wife to get it. I started the conversation with “M” by asking “If the
ball was going to hit me in the face, would you have told me?”. She laughed
and said “of course”.
She was awesome and we talked the rest of the game. She recently moved here
for her job with HP. She loves watching live sports. She was ballsy enough
to come to a pads game alone. As we left, I gave her a card and said if she
wanted someone to show her around to give me a call. She gave me that great
smile and said sure.
Shazz later told me she was impressed, that I handled myself quite well in
the face of a hard situation. I will take that as a compliment.
Things are DEFINITELY looking up…
I started my new design life at SOE on Monday. Being here since April
has made the transition to full time easy, considering I have been here
full time since I began my tenure.
The people here are great and a lot of fun… sometimes TOO MUCH!
It is hard to concentrate with people yelling, talking to you, needing
stuff from you. Imagine 20 needy children all wanting you attention at once.
That is the way it feels sometimes. That is why Jen (my boss) is great.
She prioritizes my work load and makes it way easier for me.
I have been trying to dig myself out of my debt hole I have myself in.
I figure by the end of the year, I should be good. The problem is, the
summer ALWAYS brings a plethora of things to do – concerts, movies,
dinners, shopping, outings, picnics, street fairs, padres games,
the ponies, and new CDs and DVDs, just to name a few.
I recently bought a PRO Flickr account to host all the pictures
I have been taking.Be sure to check it out:

Oh yeah, 28 days until opening day at the Track...
