Hernando’s Hideaway

Went downtown last night (a “school night” for some) to watch some Jazz at Croce’s.
A very mellow night just hanging out with some smooth music, some dancing,
great drinks and great conversation. Sometimes you just have to suit-up and
head out with out thinking.

Man in a Box

Well, I made it through the Holidays (barely). My life has definitely
been in flux the last year, as most of you who know me. 2005 was not so kind,
but I made the most of it. “What doesn’t kill you will make you stronger” or something like that.

I celebrated the end of the year as best as I could.

And I decided to do it alone.

Christmas was great. Spent with family & friends alike. I hosted the annual
Xmas party at Buca Di Beppo, in which Spork asked me (like Luca Brasi asking
the Godfather for a favor) to take care of the bill this year. Shaz received
the coveted “Lifetime Achievement Award” which was an actual award this year.

I did receive a GREAT present from my Mammy.

New Years was a bust. It rained here in San Diego and I was feeling blue.
It was better to stay in – and out of trouble, which I could have easily
found at the RBB or out with Chaz in La Jolla. Instead I spent an evening
of reflection and self-thought. Asking the age old question – “What do I want to accomplish this year?”.

First off – the Job situation. It is close. I went for a 2nd interview yesterday.
I hope to hear something today or Monday. It has to happen (or else).

Next – the Relationship. I have been droning on for a long time and it
is time for a change.I finished the therapy in the fall but could probably do
a couple of follow ups. I have felt trapped by my own self for many months.
Where as my low self-esteem and self-pity have played into the wrong hands.
Even with all of the lying, cheating, and disrespect I have encountered,
I have still managed to learn and grow. Now is the time to break the cycle.
Time to crawl from that box.
