Everything Counts

This time of the year I like to reflect on things important in my life.
The main one is my friends (and family, of course). I have been lucky enough
to keep my friends for a long time, some going back to Junior High and High School,
and even Grammer School. I just want to say "Thank You" to each and evey one of them.

Remember when...

Over the Hills and Far Away

As we close in on the end of 2005, the movie studios have started to fill their slates with next years movies. Here are a few of my picks:

Mr. WoodCock
New Line Cinema – 2006
Billy Bob Thorton, Susan Sarandon, Seann William Scott

Plot: Scott stars as John Farley, a self-help author who returns to his hometown only to discover that his mother (Sarandon) has fallen in love with his old high school nemesis, Mr. Woodcock (Thornton) - the gruff, no-nonsense gym teacher who had put him through years of mental and physical humiliation. Determined to prevent history from repeating itself, John sets out to stop his mother from marrying the man who had made life miserable for him and his classmates.

The Assassination of Jesse James

WB – 2006
Brad Pitt, Sam Shepard, Robert Duvall, Casey Affleck

Plot: Pitt stars as the famed gunslinger James. Ford (Affleck) is a youth who joined the James gang and went from idolizing to resenting the man known as the fastest gun in the West. He figured on making his rep by gunning down James but shot his mentor in the back, stamping himself the most famous coward around.

The Departed
WB – 2006
Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, Alec Baldwin, Martin Sheen

Plot: The Departed is set in South Boston, where the state police force is waging war on organized crime. Young undercover cop Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) is assigned to infiltrate the mob syndicate run by gangland chief Costello (Jack Nicholson). While Billy is quickly gaining Costello’s confidence, Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon), a hardened young criminal who has infiltrated the police department as an informer for the syndicate, is rising to a position of power in the Special Investigation Unit. Each man becomes deeply consumed by his double life, gathering information about the plans and counter-plans of the operations he has penetrated. But when it becomes clear to both the gangsters and the police that there’s a mole in their midst, Billy and Colin are suddenly in danger of being caught and exposed to the enemy – and each must race to uncover the identity of the other man in time to save himself.
